Celebrate Open Research
Join us for the HSE’s annual Open Access Research Awards in the Library of Dr Steevens’ Hospital, on Wednesday 4th December at 11.30 am.
The awards, now in their 6th year are a celebration of the hard work of health researchers and their efforts to improve access to Irish health research by making their work available in open Ireland.
Awards will be presented for in the following categories
- Mental Health
- Acute Hospitals
- Primary Care
- Social Care
- Health and Well Being
- Quality Improvement
- Clinical Strategy & Programmes
There is also an overall winner, which is the article viewed by the external judge to represent an outstanding piece of research from the years’ entries.
There will also be tea, coffee and festive treats.

Going Open : embracing open access research and publishing
Making your research available in Open formats is becoming increasingly important and the development of Open Research is changing scholarly publishing.
Want to learn more about developments in Open Research and the benefits of open publication? Join us for a lunchtime learning session in Dr Steevens on February 8th.
Laura Rooney Ferris – Systems Librarian / Lenus repository manager HSE Library will talk about developments in Open Access publishing and making your research open through the Lenus repository
Shane Knox – Assistant Chief Ambulance Officer, Education Manager, National Ambulance Service College and member of editorial board of Irish Journal of Paramedicine. Shane will talk about producing the Irish Journal of Paramedicine, a fully Open Access journal and the benefits of publishing in an open publication.
