About The Library
Connolly Hospital Library (Dublin North & Meath) is available to all HSE staff working in acute, community or integrated care settings in North Dublin City and county, and to HSE staff based in County Meath. It also available to students whilst on clinical placement.
Library staff provide support for research, continuing professional development, education and patient care by providing best practice evidence.
The library offers space for independent study, work or reflection.
There are 7 PCs and 14 study spaces available. As well as the main Library, access is provided to a 24- hour study room which is open 7 days a week with swipe access. WiFi is available.
The library has a poster printer which can print posters up to A1 size.
Our Library Hub is available to book for private study, collaboration or small meetings (up to 5 people).

HSE Library Day - 24th of September 2025
Join us as we celebrate the very first HSE Library Day, a national event recognising the impact of HSE Library services and staff across Irish healthcare.
Here at Connolly Hospital, we will be marking the day with a pop-up event in the main hospital and a lunchtime event in the library where we will exhibit the entries for our Children’s Art Competition and announce the winners. There will be a chance to win some exciting prizes on the day.
Join us in a celebration of how our library supports evidence-based care, staff wellbeing, and professional development.
Everyone is welcome – drop in, join the fun, and discover how we are HSE Library – making a difference.
As part of our celebrations, we are holding a book-themed children’s art competition. Do you know a budding young artist who would like to draw or paint a character or a scene from a book or a subject inspired by their favourite book? Entries are invited from young family members of Connolly Hospital staff or HSE staff members working in North Dublin or Meath and all entries must be submitted by the staff member on behalf of the young artist.
There are three age categories:
• 6 years and under ; 7-9 years ; 10-12 years
Fabulous prizes from the Art and Hobby Store will be awarded to the winner for each age category!
All entries will be on display in the library and the winners announced at our lunchtime event on HSE Library Day, 24th September.
Entries should be on paper and not smaller than A4 or larger than A3 . Only one entry per child please. They must not be framed.
All entries must be submitted by an adult on behalf of the child. On the back, please write:
• The child’s name and age.
• The title of the artwork.
• An email address/phone number and the HSE work location for the adult family member who is submitting the entry.
Entries to be delivered by hand or by post by 4pm on Wednesday 17 Sept to:

Please be advised that demolition/building works are commencing shortly adjacent to the Academic Centre at Connolly Hospital where our library is located. Noise levels during the day may be disruptive during this project. We apologise for any inconvenience to library users.
Pulmonary Aspergillosis can be linked to demolition, excavation, construction and refurbishment activities. For this reason, it is advised that windows in the Academic Centre facing the works site should be kept closed.
Staff members are generally not considered to be at risk, assuming no known immunocompromising condition. If you have any concerns in relation to this, please discuss with your line manager regarding a referral to occupational health if necessary.
This applies to all visitors to the Library areas.
