COVID19 – Library Closures & Access
In order to support the national response to coronavirus covid19.
All HSE Libraries are closed until further notice.
Things you can access online
Access to our elibrary resources is available automatically on any HSE site. Resources are available remotely 24 hours a day using your HSE Open Athens account.
Applying for an OpenAthens Account Online
If you would like to access electronic journals, electronic books, databases and other educational and research resources from any device you can do this by registering here. You will need a valid email address and a HSE employee number (on your payslip)

During this time, our dedicated evidence team will be focusing their efforts on providing urgent evidence support requests related to covid19.
If you have an urgent research request please continue to submit via the Research Request Service however please be aware that priority during this time will be given to requests related to Covid19.
Please use the Journal Finder function on the home page of the library website to check if you have access to a journal through the library resources.
Due to staff re-deployment we will not be fulfilling article requests at this time. If you have urgent evidence requirements related to COVID19 please submit via the research request service.
Borrowing and returning books
We do not charge late fees, and no restrictions will be applied for late returned items during this time. You may return items using the book return boxes outside the libraries or when your library site re-opens.
